IIT GUWAHATI RANKED AS THE 14TH BEST UNIVERSITY OF THE WORLD

Webdesk, TNI Guwahati, 30th January, 2016: According to the Times Higher Education’s (THE) ‘World’s Best Small Universities Ranking 2016’ is concerned the IIT – Guwahati is ranked as the best 14th University of the World. According to Mr. Phil Baty, the ranking editor “India’s institutions are well represented in the World’s Best Small Universities Ranking 2016 alongside Caltech, they demonstrate the world-class offering available at smaller institutions, no matter their location.” The small universities are defined by some criterion i.e. students current enrolment is below 5000 and research works carried out in at least 4 disciplines. The news has already created ripples in the Indian Education sector especially, the North Eastern regions, which is always considered as the last benchers in the National scene. There is a sense of hue and cry among the students of IIT-Guwahati. According to one 1st year student “I didn’t understand that I have taken admission in such a great institution in my course. I now can realize it not because of the ranking because of the extreme professionalism the institution is imparting on us”.
